특정 파장의 빛을 조사하면 PSP(pressure sensitive paint)와 TSP(temperature sensitive paint)는 표면 압력이나 온도에 따라 방사(emit)하는 빛의 강도를 달리한다.

이러한 PSP와 TSP의 성질을 이용하여 표면 압력이나 온도 분포를 측정한다.
